ShareRoo Help

Effective Date: April 26, 2026

Overview

ShareRoo is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace where people can lend and rent eligible personal items in return for a rental fee. Owners can create listings by uploading photos and descriptions of their items, such as sporting equipment, leisure items, household goods, tools, electronics, photography equipment, mobility items, and other approved categories. Listings are reviewed through ShareRoo's platform controls before being made available to other users.

Users can browse or search for items by category, location, and availability. Items are generally shown based on proximity, helping renters find items close to where they live. Each listing includes an availability calendar showing when the item can be rented. The minimum rental period is typically 1 day, and the default maximum rental period is 30 days, unless otherwise allowed by the Owner.

When a renter submits a rental request, the Owner is notified and can choose whether to accept or decline it. If the Owner accepts the request, the booking is confirmed and the item is reserved for the requested period. The renter and Owner can then coordinate collection details through ShareRoo's internal messaging system.

During the rental period, the renter is responsible for using the item properly and returning it on time and in substantially the same condition, allowing for fair wear and tear. Once the rental ends, both the renter and Owner may be invited to rate each other.

registration

ShareRoo registration is quick and free. To create an account, users must provide accurate personal details, including their name, address, mobile number, and email address.

ShareRoo membership is only available to eligible users who meet the platform's minimum age and account requirements. If a parent or guardian registers on behalf of a younger user, the registered account holder remains fully responsible for all activity on that account.

Users must keep their account details accurate and up to date at all times.

owners

If you would like to lend an item on ShareRoo, the basic process is:

  • create a listing by uploading photos and a clear description
  • set your rental pricing and availability
  • review and respond to rental requests
  • arrange collection details with the renter
  • hand over the item
  • inspect the item when it is returned
  • leave a review for the renter

Owners must ensure that:

  • they own the item or have authority to rent it
  • the listing description is accurate
  • the item is safe, legal, and suitable for rental
  • the item is maintained in good working order

Some items are not allowed on ShareRoo. Attempted uploads of prohibited items may be blocked by ShareRoo's platform controls, including Gatekeeper.

If you are unavailable for a period of time, you should pause your listings so they cannot be booked. Owners may also delete listings, provided there are no active or confirmed bookings attached to them.

Before a booking is confirmed, other users can generally only see limited owner information such as first name, profile image, rating, and approximate item location. More precise collection details are only shared after a booking is confirmed.

renters

If you would like to rent an item on ShareRoo, the usual process is:

  • search or browse for the item you need
  • select the rental dates
  • submit your rental request
  • wait for the Owner to accept
  • arrange collection details through ShareRoo messaging
  • collect the item at the agreed place and time
  • use the item responsibly
  • return the item on time and in the required condition
  • leave a review for the Owner

If the Owner does not appear at the agreed handover time and location, you should try contacting them first through the platform or by any contact method made available for the booking. If the issue is not resolved, contact ShareRoo Support with the booking reference so the matter can be reviewed.

Identity Verification (KYC)

ShareRoo may require identity verification before certain users can transact on the platform.

Owners may be required to complete identity verification before publishing or activating their first listing. Renters may be required to complete identity verification before submitting or completing their first booking.

ShareRoo may also require additional verification in certain cases, including account changes, risk checks, payment reviews, or suspicious activity.

Rental Requests

Renter:

To submit a rental request:

  1. find the item you want
  2. select your rental dates
  3. review the displayed pricing, fees, and any applicable temporary card hold
  4. submit the request through the platform
  5. wait for the Owner to accept or decline
  6. if accepted, coordinate collection and return details through ShareRoo messaging

If your rental request has not yet been accepted, you may usually edit or cancel it. Once a booking is confirmed, any change, extension, reduction, or cancellation is subject to the applicable cancellation rules and platform processes.

Owner:

To respond to a rental request:

  1. review the request details in your dashboard
  2. check the renter profile and timing
  3. accept or decline the request
  4. if accepted, coordinate handover details with the renter

Owners should respond promptly to rental requests. Slow responses, missed requests, or repeated cancellations may negatively affect account standing, search visibility, or user ratings.

rental collection

When collecting an item, renters should check that it generally matches the listing description and appears fit for its intended use.

If the item has a major defect, is unsafe, or materially does not match its description, the renter should raise the issue immediately through the platform and avoid using the item until the issue is resolved.

Owners are encouraged to provide clear handover information and maintain evidence of the item's condition at handover, including photos where required by the ShareRoo Protection process.

rental returns

The renter must return the item to the Owner at the agreed time and location, in substantially the same condition in which it was received, allowing for fair wear and tear.

Owners should inspect returned items promptly. If there is any issue, such as damage, loss, missing parts, or a condition problem, the Owner must raise it within the applicable dispute window and provide supporting evidence.

If cleaning or extra remediation is needed due to the renter's use of the item, ShareRoo may review the matter in accordance with its platform rules and any applicable policy settings.

If the item is returned late, the renter may be charged additional rental amounts or other applicable charges under ShareRoo's rules. Owners should also update listing availability where needed to avoid disruption to future bookings.

lost or stolen items

If an item is lost, stolen, unlawfully retained, or not returned, the renter remains primarily liable.

Owners should report the issue to ShareRoo promptly through the proper support or claim process. In cases of suspected theft, unlawful retention, or misappropriation, ShareRoo may require the Owner to file a police report before any claim is considered.

Any support provided by ShareRoo is governed by the ShareRoo Protection Policy and is:

  • not insurance
  • subject to eligibility
  • subject to evidence requirements
  • conditional
  • capped
  • discretionary

ShareRoo does not guarantee reimbursement for lost or stolen items.

cancellations

Owner:

Owners may cancel bookings in accordance with ShareRoo's cancellation rules. Owners should only cancel where necessary and should provide as much notice as possible to avoid disruption to renters.

Repeated owner cancellations may affect ratings, search visibility, or account standing.

Renter:

Unconfirmed rental requests may generally be cancelled without penalty. Confirmed bookings may be subject to cancellation fees or refund restrictions depending on when the cancellation occurs and the applicable booking rules.

Users should always check the cancellation terms shown at the time of booking.

payments

ShareRoo uses secure payment processing methods to protect user payment data. Payment information is handled through approved payment providers and is not stored in plain form by ShareRoo.

Depending on the booking flow, renters may be charged:

  • rental fees
  • service fees
  • ShareRoo Protection fees
  • temporary card hold amounts
  • any other disclosed fees or charges

Owner payouts are generally processed after the rental period, but may be delayed or adjusted where there is:

  • an active dispute
  • an eligible claim
  • suspected fraud
  • a late return
  • chargeback risk
  • another platform review issue

Where applicable, ShareRoo may place a temporary card hold on the renter's payment method as part of ShareRoo Protection.

notifications

ShareRoo sends notifications for important account and rental events, such as:

  • account registration confirmation
  • listing activation
  • rental request received
  • rental request accepted or declined
  • reminders before rental start
  • reminders before rental end
  • cancellation updates
  • dispute or claim updates
  • account changes or security alerts

ShareRoo Protection

At ShareRoo, we know that lending personal items involves trust. That is why eligible rentals may include ShareRoo Protection to provide added peace of mind for Owners and renters.

ShareRoo Protection is not insurance. It is a platform-based protection system that may use:

  • temporary card holds
  • risk-based controls
  • evidence requirements
  • discretionary support for eligible claims

If something goes wrong during a rental, ShareRoo provides a simple dispute and claim process. Renters should report any issue promptly through the platform and include photos where possible. Renters remain primarily liable for damage, loss, or theft during the rental period. Owners must report issues within the required dispute window and provide supporting evidence to preserve claim eligibility.

Any support provided by ShareRoo is subject to:

  • platform rules
  • eligibility requirements
  • evidence requirements
  • exclusions
  • applicable caps
  • the ShareRoo Protection Policy

ShareRoo Protection applies only to eligible rentals and is conditional, capped, and discretionary. For full details, please refer to the ShareRoo Protection Policy.
